Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of bizlocationdb.com (the "Site") and any datasets, files, or content we make available through it (the "Data"). By using the Site or downloading Data, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Site.

1. What we provide

BizLocationDB publishes datasets of business locations collected from publicly available sources. Data is offered under two license tiers:

• Free — licensed under CC BY 4.0, described in full on our License & attribution page.
• Commercial — a paid license, purchased per dataset or for the whole database, described in Section 3 below and on our Pricing page.

Whichever tier you use, these Terms apply in addition to (not instead of) the license terms for that tier. Where the two conflict for Data usage specifically, the more specific license (CC BY 4.0 or the commercial license) controls.

2. Free (CC BY 4.0) license

Data downloaded without a commercial license is licensed under CC BY 4.0. In short: you may use, modify, and redistribute it — including commercially — as long as you attribute BizLocationDB and link to the license. Full details, including what's out of scope (brand names/logos, the Site's own code), are on the License page.

3. Commercial license

A commercial license removes the CC BY 4.0 attribution requirement. In exchange, it comes with an important restriction that the free license does not have:

• No redistribution. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, publish, or otherwise make the Data (in raw or lightly modified form) available to any third party, whether for free or for a fee. This includes bundling it into a competing dataset or directory product. Purchasing a commercial license grants you and your organization the right to use the Data — internally, or built into your own product's functionality where the Data itself is not the product being sold — not to redistribute the Data itself.
• No requirement to display attribution or link back to BizLocationDB.
• Covers commercial use, including in paid products, provided the redistribution restriction above is respected.

Commercial license comes in two forms, sold as described on Pricing:

• Single dataset — a one-time purchase covering one brand's dataset, as a snapshot at time of purchase.
• Whole database — a yearly subscription covering every dataset we publish, including brands added and data refreshed during the subscription term.

A commercial license is granted to the purchasing individual or organization only and is not transferable. If your subscription lapses or your one-time license was for a past snapshot, you may keep and keep using previously downloaded files under the commercial terms above, but you're not entitled to further updates without a current license.

4. Payment and refunds

Prices are listed on the Pricing page and are subject to change for future purchases. Single-dataset purchases are final once the file has been delivered, since the product is a digital download you can inspect via the free tier beforehand. If a paid file is materially broken or doesn't match its description, contact us within 14 days for a fix or refund. Yearly whole-database subscriptions can be cancelled at any time; we don't provide prorated refunds for partial periods already paid for.

5. Acceptable use of the Site

• Don't attempt to bypass rate limits, paywalls, or license checks (e.g. sharing a commercial license key or paywall-unlock outside your organization).
• Don't scrape or automate requests to the browsable /locations pages in place of downloading the published CSV/ZIP files, and don't use the download links as an ad-hoc API in production pipelines — see License for details.
• Don't use the Site to violate any applicable law.

6. Accuracy and warranties

Data is collected from public sources and may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date information. The Site and the Data are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. You're responsible for verifying the Data is suitable for your use case before relying on it.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BizLocationDB is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or the Data, and our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $0 if you're on the free tier).

8. Termination

We can suspend or terminate access to the Site or a commercial license if these Terms are violated, including redistribution in breach of Section 3. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (accuracy disclaimers, liability limits, payment obligations already incurred) do.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms as the Site or our pricing changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes affecting an active commercial subscription will be communicated by email where we have one on file.
