About

BizLocationDB is a constantly growing database of retail and business locations worldwide, focused on accuracy and depth.

Why?

Unlike general-purpose POI datasets such as AllThePlaces and OpenStreetMap, which often contain everything from trees and roads to other non-business features, BizLocationDB is exclusively focused on business locations.

We also prioritize depth over breadth. Rather than providing partial coverage of thousands of brands, we aim to capture complete global footprints for each one. For example, our KFC dataset includes locations in China, which many other datasets omit.

How is the data licensed?

The files are published under CC BY 4.0: research, journalism, teaching, side projects, commercial products are all fine as long as it's properly attributed. See the license page for more details

Where the data comes from?

Every record is collected from publicly available sources, primarily brands’ own store locators and the public APIs that power them. Freely available datasets, such as AllThePlaces, are also incorporated where appropriate. The data then goes through extensive post-processing to clean, normalize, and standardize the records.
